After visiting Kenya over several years, we were deeply moved by the overwhelming needs we witnessed. Poverty was widespread, and countless children had been left without parents because of disease, poverty, and other hardships. Many wandered the streets hungry, barefoot, and without adequate clothing. Too often, they had little hope of receiving an education or the care every child deserves.
While some relatives or guardians tried to help, many were already struggling to provide for their own families and simply did not have the resources to care for additional children. As a result, many orphans lacked proper nutrition, clothing, medical care, and the opportunity to attend school.
Seeing these children transformed our hearts.
In 2010, Advent Hope Ministries established its first orphanage to provide a safe, loving home for children who had nowhere else to turn. Our vision was not simply to meet their immediate needs, but to give them the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Today, our mission is to nurture children physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. We strive to raise young people who know Jesus, receive a quality education, develop practical life skills, and become responsible leaders in their churches, communities, and families.
One of our greatest joys is seeing this vision come full circle. Several of our older students have expressed a desire to one day sponsor an orphan themselves, giving back the same love and support they once received.
Today, Advent Hope Ministries cares for:
- 88 children living in our orphanages.
- 46 students attending high school.
- 10 young adults pursuing college education, and 3 in trade school.
These children can attend school, receive nutritious meals, medical care, clothing, and Christian education because of the faithful generosity of our supporters.
The cost to sponsor a child is:
$75 per month for a student attending high school or college.
$40 per month for a child living in the orphanage.
We are also committed to making our orphanages increasingly self-sustaining. As part of this effort, we recently purchased a knitting machine that enables the children and staff to produce school sweaters. We hope to secure contracts with local schools, creating a source of income that will help support the ministry while teaching valuable vocational skills. We are now praying for the resources to purchase an overlock machine so this program can continue to grow.
